Links I liked

  1. The changing of the guard at the India/Pakistan Wagah/Attari border puts the shame to West Side Story
  2. Quote of the week: “My goal is not to disparage the NYT as a church but to note that the relevant market is lifestyle.” From this great thread:
  1. Biden’s economic agenda is dead. Long live Biden’s economic agenda.
  2. Why do Brahmins commonly lead Western firms but rarely Indian ones?
  3. For those who watched Nirmal Purja ascent 14 Peaks on Netflix (and you should), why this was controversial. Grumps and nitpickers, if you ask me, but an interesting peek into the strange culture that is alpine mountaineering.

One Response

  1. On the fifth link, it’s interesting to note that these kinds of arguments go back to the very earliest days of mountaineering expeditions. You might enjoy Wade Davis’s Into The Silence, which catalogues the (frankly insane) British attempts to climb Everest in the 20’s. They might have even made the summit if it weren’t for their stubbornness about using supplemental oxygen.
